Pakistan has ruled out the possibility the terrorist out-fit Islamic State (IS) being present in the country.
In an interview with Radio Pakistan on Sunday, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry said no one in the country will be allowed to have links with Daesh.
The foreign secretary said Pakistan is fully capable of thwarting all threats from IS or any other extremist organisation, adding that the country was winning the war against terror with the full support of its people.
While condemning the terrorists incident which occurred in Paris, he emphasised the need for more cooperation and coordination at the global level to defeat terrorists, and their mind set.
Addressing a function organised by Pakistan Foreign Office Women’s Association in connection with their annual charity bazaar, at Foreign Office, the foreign secretary said Pakistan has come out of the crisis due to terrorism and extremism due to resilience shown by the people of Pakistan and their leadership.
He said through cooperation and unity among the nation, Pakistan had successfully over powered the menace of terrorism. He especially appreciated the contribution and sacrifices of Pakistan Army for launching a successful operation to curb the menace of terrorism which had suffered a lot to Pakistan.
He said people and government of Pakistan strongly condemned the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris that have resulted in the loss of more than 100 precious lives.
Responding to a question he said that Army Chief’s visit to US is closely linked with military ties of both the countries.
A one minute silence was also observed before the start of the function to express solidarity and sympathies with those who lost their lives in the tragic incidents in Paris.
