India’s Hue And Cry Over Xi’s Visit

IT is in line with Indian mindset that it leaves no occasion to raise hue and cry as and when any dignitary visits Pakistan and some agreements are signed for development in key sectors of Pakistan economy. This time the Indian media, prompted by the Indian establishment came out with different notions and propaganda about the impact of high profile visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The Chinese President was upbeat by stating that his state visit to Pakistan has led him to become ever more confident in the future of China-Pakistan relations. The fact of the matter is that the two countries are time-tested friends and President Xi had no hesitation in stating that Pakistan stood by China when Beijing was standing alone at international level. It was expected that the visit of President Xi would lead to major initiatives and the signing of 51 agreements/MoUs worth $ 46 billion proved the importance given by Beijing to Islamabad. But the projects to be implemented under the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor for the mutual benefit of the two peoples have not gone well in New Delhi. It is amusing and surprising as to why the Indian media has started a campaign of weaving conspiracy theories to pollute the minds of the Indian people and creating mistrust towards Pakistan. Contrary to this Islamabad had never objected over the agreements between the US and India including the supply of dual-purpose nuclear technology and armaments during the visit of President Obama. Of course some Pakistanis were disappointed that the US President did not include Islamabad in his itinerary despite the fact that Pakistan had a history of long relationship with Washington. The need of the hour is that the Indian leadership and the media must get out of typical mindset of taking every thing in the negative perspective. As a sovereign and self-respecting nation, it is Pakistan’s legitimate right to invite any world leader and enter into agreements for the well being of its people and we are certain that the projects under the PCEC when completed would also lead to prosperity of the people in the entireregion.
